I'm pretty sure that It was intended, It's for a better economy, You will need to work and be active to grind money, I would recommend farming melons.
Honestly before the server reset we should have been informed about all of the nerfs but i think the cow is good because before many people could just afk cows all day and night and make millions but now they have to work for their money ... and in my opinion melons should be more sell value because of all the time it takes to set them up.
