»New server suggestion - Full vanilla survival

    For everyone’s info me and jammaers mean full vanilla as in no claims nothing other than admins that stop hacking and those admins can only use /ban and mute not gmc or other shit

    +1. Just played survival after years and its so fun, playing with other people as well would be more fun.

    I have 1 suggestion tho, maybe we should have cosmetic ranks on this server, so GC could profit out of it (not as much) and everyone would have a fair gameplay advantage.

    maybe make everyone alex or steve and let the buyer choose what skin he wants

    idk its just a suggestion.

    That would be kinda bad for premium players though. We all have custom skins that are linked to our account. I could see using the cracked skins still, but making everyone Steve/Alex seems to be a bit much for me.

    Maybe there can be some really minor stuff as a shop? For example, particle trails (particles that appear when you shoot an arrow) or kill effects (effects that show when you die). Kinda copied off from Hypickle but at least it doesn't effect gameplay, isn't worth spending real money, and adds a pretty cool factor.

    Victory dances too

    agree with both of you actually, these added stuff when you buy a rnak should be stuff like titles, particles effects etc... it wont affect gameplay at all and it'll be fun +1 to both of you xd

    This game-mode is kinda similar to the Semi-Vanilla that we used to have. Most players played SV for a *very* short while until they had nothing else to do and then left to play other game modes, mostly survival. Because of this, SV wasn't covering its expenses and was shut down.

    Speaking honestly, I don't see how a game-mode like SV, but with even more things removed, will be popular in the long run. Might be a fun fad for the survival players for a week. But it'll be pretty much dead after that with most players preferring survival for its additional features. That, or the current survival player-base will then be split between 2 servers, just like when we added Fac Black / Dimensions.

    The reset can be much more frequently.. as for the splitting amount of players on the server that's something that no one can deal with - everyone's playing on premium servers now.

    I like this idea, but I wonder how it would possibly pay for itself. Someone has to pay the hosting bills and any dev work that needs done (and even on vanilla server there's dev work to do). You still need a good anticheat and some limiting plugins (I've seen 100k entities from broken chests crash a small server hard). Knowing Guildcraft as I do, people will also certainly want all the recent building blocks, but still have 1.8 or 1.7 pvp mechanics. You still need a logging plugin like lbtool or coreprotect. Spawn would need some protection. Anarchy servers can be fun, but no protection at spawn just means 99% of players will quit within minutes.

    There's no need for resets. 2b2t has never reset in 7+ years. Even if you want to refresh the map a bit, there are ways to do that. If there's no cash economy, and everything is raidable, then there's no reason to reset just because some people are too OP.

    Admins (at least one or more) still need gmc and/or worldedit. Just because a server is vanilla doesn't mean every build can be allowed. If someone builds a giant penis or a 1 million piston farm, I don't want to spend a month removing it.

    The map would need to be larger than the maps like survival and skygrid get now. 5000 radius just isn't that big for starting a base with no grief prevention.

    Overall I'd love to see a server like this added, but I don't know how the economics can support it, and whether it would be active enough.

    The payment might be able to deal with my suggestion above (most popular prem servers are surviving using this)
    Protection at spawn can be an exception..?

    It might be better to set this up as a prototype server and test it out before actually implementing into the server. Better to notify players that the game can be removed anytime since it's in the trial stage rather than removing it completely and people ragequitting after losing their items.

    You're asking for a vanilla world.
    I don't see this succeeding at ALL. Most of the people who are currently playing survival have already "beat minecraft" (grinding resources, beating the enter dragon, building farms etc basically all the things blocky people do)
    This may sound like a good idea on paper, but people come to gc survival (in my opinion as a 3+ year old player) for the plugins, the addons, private messages mcmmo vaults yadayadayada -the things that make it different from vanilla.
    It will get repetitive with honestly nothing to do. Hypothetically, let's assume this idea of yours gets implemented, what will people do after beating the boss? (Assuming they haven't already beat it in their single player world). They can't really do anything. In current survival, we have leader boards, mcmmo levels, baltop, sweating on ig farms for /ah, plots, vaults.. I could go on and on. Notice a pattern here? You can't find this stuff in a vanilla world. People come here for this unique aspect of survival.
    It will just eat memory.
    Why was semi-vanilla removed? It was such a great server, but it got removed because we could only see a maximum of 10 players on it at a time. (Because of the major bugs after it got ported to 1.9 annddd that's a whole another story). It was hogging up potential space for a new server. OP prison took its place.
    Another point which I absolutely can't stand: oh yeah we don't need this server (server- vanilla world) to make money gc can make money in other ways (smiley)
    What even? You want to remove ranks for this supposedly "vanilla" world? I'm sure this will do wonders...
    This idea sure does sound good on paper. But practically, no.
    To summarise
    You're asking for something which-
    Nobody will play after its initial week of release
    Can't get money for the server. No ranks? Yes.
    Doesn't provide unique server value at all.



    Aftermath
    Lets say your idea gets implemented.
    There are two survivals now, one with plugins, and one supposedly "without plugins".
    Obviously the plugin survival will get more players.. reasons already above, you may find 1-2 people on at a time on the vanilla world. Sounds fun.
    *full vanilla will be even more dead than semi and that is saying something*
