I spent tons of time and resources making a natural slime farm, now they hardly spawn after today's update. --- Double Post Merged, Dec 25, 2017, Original Post Date: Dec 23, 2017 --- bump --- Double Post Merged, Dec 31, 2017 --- Bump
They’re just blocks. They get removed at every reset anyway. Those farms are the reason the slimes were nerfed; now everyone has to pay for the abusive farms. Let them stay dead.
Clever, but entirely irrelevant. My farm uses no spawners and no redstone. Also, this is a suggestion to revert a change, not a request for a refund like the other thread.
Thanks Still its a mechanic that causes lag, the amount of slimes spawned on island was way to high and was causing unnecessary entities being spawned. Not saying its good/bad that they changed the spawn rate, but it's the same reason why they changed redstone on survival. On survival many people also spend their time and resources building farms, and with one little change all that is wasted for the reason "it causes lag". Using that logic you can say that anything on the server causes lag and just take away everything.. There are ways to prevent lag, which doesn't mean just taking away features. Simply configuring the build (not sure if spigot or something else) and adding some custom plugins that deal with "lag issues". We just keep giving up features, like hoppers, automatic crop farms etc, but the lag still exist or keeps coming back on all servers. Btw, the other thread you posted in was to revert the redstone back to work with pumpkin farms. Getting refunded or items replaced was only brought up later in the conversation.
I don’t necessarily disagree with what you’re saying. Every aspect of an SMP server could cause lag, and it’s unfortunate that these huge broad strokes are taken to address the issues instead of closer investigation and tuning. Redstone is the Target now, but even two years ago, hoppers were completely removed from Survival. That’s a ridiculous example of how to address the problem. What I do take issue with is the few who abuse the server the worst, complaining the loudest when they’re shut down. The OP of that other thread is best known as the person who nearly crashed Survival with water after I told him several times to stop what he was doing for two reasons: one, his idea wouldn’t work, and two, it would cause massive lag and maybe crash the server. He continued with several projects after being told they were not good builds and would cause problems, and I warned him and several other people that if they continued with their farms that way then survival would end up with redstone nerfed just like skyblock and skygrid got. Now, here we are with survival’s redstone nerfed and one of the people who caused it is upset that it happened. I have no sympathy for him.
