Hello, reader. One of the best defenses against explosives is of course, water. When i was building my base i focused primarily on explosive protection and in the meanwhile i invented this formula: Since TnT has a 4-block explosion size in all direction (maximum explosion size variation), i thought i can counter it by placing 4 blocks of water, separated from the interior with 1 layer of obsidian (why would I need more). It sounded like an effective solution until i saw this: All those factions around the warzone have only 1 layer of water surrounding them. People can easily go behind them to place TnT outside of water but close enough to hit obsidian. But seems like they are all still standing. So i wonder is there a feature in guildcraft i didnt know about when it comes to this? Thank you for your time You can find me in-game as "Querh" I`d really appreciate if someone explained this to me, live.
I decided to investigate how the TNT physics work and here were my results: Even 1 layer of water will suffice against TNT. Putting a TNT block outside (or in) the water and igniting it resulting in the obsidian being untouched. I tried the same test with just obsidian without water, and that obsidian did take damage in that instance. TNT physics on the server are very different from vanilla TNT physics (i.e. the obsidian would have been damaged under my test if obsidian took damage in vanilla). To sum it up, obsidian only takes damage from direct hits, unless protected by water. In this case, TNT would need to be covered by sand for it to explode in the water (which is a vanilla feature). Its also worth mentioning that obsidian can take 6 direct hits of damage before being destroyed, and their damage can be checked by left clicked it with a raw potato. I hope I answered your question! If you need anymore help you can message me in-game (my IGN is short1der).
