»[Plugin suggestion] Non-English chat filter

Currently, people get muted whenever they use a language other than English in public chat.

This mean that new players, who do not know this rule since we are pretty much the only server to use it, quit and find another server. This includes people who speak English as a second language. This has cost us at least a few hundred, if not a thousand players.

My solution: Instead of muting the players for several hours, use a plugin to automatically tell the user that only English is allowed in chat, meaning only that one message gets blocked instead of all messages for the next two hours.

Seriously, it's time to cut the crap and resolve a long-time issue. Everyone thinks the current English-only policy is silly and it could be improved a lot.

This is a great idea! Why don't we already have this! A plugin like this would be probably to program really. You would just have to check for foreign characters and have a small dictionary of common, non-English words. The warning could even be in their language. @Tibo442 Make this a thing!

 

I do like this plugin concept, as I do hate muting innocent people for not knowing a language they may not understand and recognize.
We have to force a rule upon those who just only want to play on the server, and find players who speak their language so they aren't alone.

Agreed, you can just feel for the people being muted...

Like let's say there's one new player and one old player from Germany (didn't pick it randomally lmao) and one knows how to speak English and the other doesn't know English they would try explain the concept of the game in chat
Yes, there is /msg but it's a new player so they don't have a clue...
They get muted for being themselves and quit... tell people this server has crap rules...

This is a fantastic suggestion,its sad to see people get muted for not knowing English like us,they just want to play on this server with their friends and now they have difficulties,a chat filter would be a good idea so that people can have a more enjoying atmosphere where they feel comfortable around people that know the same language
