It was probably beacuse of the server rollback. Perhaps when you lost them the server crashed?
It is currently bugged. Maybe next reset they will fix it. Hope so It was fixed like a week ago so yeh, get the upgrading started!

Its natural to have those if you are currently lagging. I think you should look into your connection since the server has the auto kick system...

I think reset doesn't actually affect the server besides a new start since people can just join SB and make an island without harming the server....
