Hello everyone, This is a basic guide on how to make an Annihilation map. Before you begin! Before you even generate the world you need to think about the theme and the layout of the map and also stick to it! Another thing you should also do is think of a name for your map, it is ok to think of the name after you’re finished. I highly recommend building your map in singleplayer or on a server that you can access it and put up for download! If you build your map in singleplayer, here are a few mods/Programs that I recommend. - Worldedit Wrapper. - MCedit - WorldPainter - Shaders Mod and a shaders pack you like. (Don’t worry if you have a slow computer it’s not required) Mod/Program information Worldedit wrapper – Worldedit wrapper is a singleplayer version of worldedit, it comes with all the features Worldedit has on multiplayer. MCedit - Mcedit is a powerful 3rd party program that is very similar to Worldedit, but allows you to easily do much larger copy & pastes. WorldPainter - World painter is a 3rd party program that allows you to make decent terrain. World painter is similar to world machine, which is very hard to use. Shaders - Shaders is used to take epic screenshots of your hard work! But it can really torture those who have a terrible graphics card/computer. Multiplayer Building If you decide to build your map on a server, make sure you got enough RAM and also the Worldedit pluggin Installed. Also make sure you are able to take the .schematic file out of the server. To Import it into singleplayer you will need MCedit or Worldedit wrapper to do so. ___________________________________________________________________________ I also like to put Annihilation maps under 2 different category’s, A rush map and a Phase 5 map. A rush map is a map that is good for early game rushing. These games don’t last long, but they can last long if the players do a great job at defending. Some maps that fall under this category is Eldor and Kingdom. A phase 5 map is a map that lasts a long time and is good for Gapple rushes. Games can last for very long, but they can also be short if the enemy team(s) don defend. Some maps that fall under this category are Coastal and Canyon. __________________________________________________________________________________ Gameplay Basic Gameplay A very important thing that really makes an Annihilation map a good map or a terrible map is the gameplay. Gameplay is VERY important, you need to make sure most if not all kits have are balanced in the map, what I mean by this is if you have a floating island as a mid what kits can access it easily? Adding a staircase or ladder will help. Just try to balance it out with every kit out. Gameplay – Transporter & Sewers Another thing you need to think about is the sewer if you decide to add one, make sure the sewer exit is outside of the nexus building to make transporter rushes defendable in the early game. If you add the sewer exit in the Nexus room, it will be extremely hard to defend from in the early to mid-game. Gameplay - Invisible rushes When making the nexus room it’s always smart to have an hiding spot for those who Invisible rush or just yolo into the base. This is smart because not all defenders check, and most will just leave after a few minutes defending. Also it’s a good idea because if there is no hiding spots it will be easy to see those with an invisibility potion, just rushing in or even if your assassin ability runs out just as you enter the room. With a Hiding spots which can be anything from a hole in the wall to a wall of bookshelf’s sticking out of the wall. You don’t want to make defence too OP, nor do you want to make rushing OP. Gameplay – Mines The mines are the most important part of Annihilation map. Try to not add more than 2 Iron & coal mines. 1 of every other mine is fine, this is because they take up more space than you think, and too many mines will make the map cramped. Yes it is ok to add gem blocks but don’t add iron, gold or diamond blocks in any mines. You can add Emerald, Redstone and lapis blocks, these blocks do not give you any significant advantage. Iron Mine(s) In the iron mines try to have anywhere between 20-40 ores. You can have more if wish. If you only want to have 1 iron mine anywhere between 40-70 ores will be more than enough. Gold Mine I personally like to put a decent amount of gold in my map. Anywhere in-between 45-64 will be more than enough. Coal mine(s) In the coal mine try to have anywhere in-between 10-30 ores. You can add more if you wish. If you want to only have 1 coal mine 15-40 will be enough. Lapis & Redstone mines In the Lapis and Redstone mine anywhere in-between 5-20 ores is more than enough. Emerald Mine In the emerald mine 7-20 emerald ores will be more than enough. Diamond Mine (Mid) In the middle anywhere in-between 6-10 Diamond ores is plenty. ___________________________________________________________________________ Building When you build your Annihilation map it cannot be a simple wooden box. You need to add detail & depth too it. All the buildings need to suit the theme you have chosen to build your map. If you not good at building, it isn't at all that hard to learn! a quick youtube search on guide on detailing and adding depth isn't at all that hard, everyone can learn! Another thing you should do when you build is to only build 1 team and use MCedit to copy and paste it to the other 3 sides and use worldedit to change the wool/clay etc to the teams color. Copy & pasting with Worldedit Easiest way to copy and paste each team with worldedit is to go to the opposite corner the nexus (this will be the mid) and type //copy then //rotate 90 then //paste. Wait till it’s done pasting then type //rotate 90 then //paste. Wait till finished pasting and repeat for final team. Copy & pasting with MCedit This is a lot easier than worldedit. First select the map and click copy, rotate it and then paste. Line everything up then click import. Map Sizes Each side of the team should be 150x150 or 200x200. The area in between each team should be 50-75 blocks wide. This is a quick layout of the map http://prntscr.com/92ji5n Purple wool = Each teams corner of the map Cyan wool = The area inbetween each team Blue wool = mid ___________________________________________________________________________ Creating the download! To create a download, WinRAR and a Mediafire account will be needed. First make a new WinRAR Folder on your desktop (Same way you make a new folder). First you need to go into your saves folder, to do so Start > Search > Type %Appdata% > Go to .minecraft > Click “Saves” > Drag and drop your map into the WinRAR folder. Now goto mediafire and make an account (if you don’t have one already) and upload it! I have no idea how this is done with Mac. This isnt 100% done! If you have anything to add to this, type it out below and ill add it! This took me a long time to create!
"Each side of the team should be 150x150 or 200x200. The area in between each team should be 50-75 blocks wide. " 200 + 50 + 200 = 450 x 450
What... I don't understand... So each team should be 150-200. so 200x200 on red, 200x200 on yellow, 200x200 on green and 200x200 on blue?
