This date marks the birth of the 1.7 update in Minecraft, known as the "Update, Which changed the world" This update, added alot of things to minecraft; new biomes, stained glass better networking for the large servers, so many important commands which we use till this day and new log types we even got "air" blocks!

It marked a prominent place in Minecraft history.... but this was years ago today it is
2019, March 30th, years have passed YEARS and yet Guildcraft still keeps on clinging to the 1.7 update, hoping for more players This was the time PS4 came out, yeah that old thing, but a PS4 was something new, this was just another update, another stepping stone of minecraft, yet we still cling on it

In the most simplest words possible, i think 1.7 should be removed from Guildcraft itself and there are huge reasons why it SHOULD be removed

1: Incompatibility: Okay, so you are telling me that just because we have these old versions lying around, i cant use the features of the newer editions? whats the point of even updating then? I am using 1.12 because i want shields, i will get effing angry if some 1.7 guy cannot see my totem of undying and shields, THATS THE REASON I UPDATED to use the shields and totems, also i give a guy a shulker box, either he crashes, or it turns into a furnace in his inventory, WHATS THE POINT OF UPDATING THEN?

2: Community: 1/4th of the members use 1.7, other quarter uses 1.8, third quarter is 1.9, last quarter uses other verisions, you think thats anywhere near a connected community? One guy has a elytra, but for the 1.8 players he looks like a flying hacker, one guy is using 1.7 and is using the unbalanced pvp this is WORSE then bedrock's crossplay where mobile users, and console players and pc users are put together in a single server atleat in bedrock everyone uses the same godamn version

3: Cause its effing old: No explanation needed for this

Yes, if we do kick the older versions out of guildcraft, we do get a few disadvantages like

Low Specs: 1.7 is the last version which uses OpenGL less then 2.1 which is common on older igpu laptops, its quite unfortunate that they wont be able to play because of there terrible PC but you can do nothing about it

Older P.V.P fans: Which we can regain using old-pvp plugins, i personally hate older pvp ( a.k.a spam pvp) i dont like the new pvp too, its wayy too much delay but we need to create a balance, you think players in 1.12 want to close mc and open back up in 1.8 just to play some practicepvp? of course the old-pvp plugin might not be good, but we will get shields back which will make up for it

Conclusion: Remove 1.7 and start making plans to remove 1.8 in the future, if you really want to cling on 1.8, remove it after 1.14 when the "new pvp overhaul" happens cause 3 different types of pvps is too much to handle IF these wishes cannot be done ATLEAST remove it for the following servers

    • Skyblock ( because of newer plants which require higher updates )
    • Creative ( Because of the huge amount of blocks )
    • Factions ( because every single player should have the same type of pvp, it shouldnt be based on luck that if you encounter a 1.8 spammy pvp player, or a 1.9 shielded player

The removal of this version is going to make many players quit most likely and thus leading to Guildcraft being dead server. The server's most popular gamemodes are also pvp related (Factions and Annihilation) and they both need and have fast pvp nature.

Better to have a smaller, but more connected server, with alot less bugs rather then this mess which is now
    --- Double Post Merged, Mar 30, 2019, Original Post Date: Mar 30, 2019 ---
    Older editions:

"What the **** is a shield?" "What the heck is a Totem of undying"? "What's a shulker box?"
"I don't see what pet you bought, I'm using 1.7 so armour stands don't exist." "How are you in gamemode 0? Oh it's a glider."
"Concrete? No your house isn't made of concrete, it's terracotta...for me at least"
"Aww shit, overpriced enchants take 30 lvls"

    Newer Editions:

"How the hell is he hitting me so fast?"
"Hacks! My shield isn't even protecting me from hits"
"Why did my friend die? I shot him with a instant health arrow!"
"Here, take my shulker box, it's full of potions....what do you mean I gave you a furnace? I gave you a shulker box"
    "Lmao so cheap enchants"

This is basically GC in a nutshell

@Derax_ Don't we have a form of plugin to implement the 1.8 combat system? That seems an easy fix to that problem and also, the other downsides presented by older versions are still present, so if pvp is just the problem, then isn't that a safe workaround?

Just saying, people with lower specs will get more FPS in 1.8 and above versions because of the "VBO" option in settings I believe (not sure if u said this)

"The hardest choices require the strongest will." - Athanasios Thanos

Never said it was going to be an easy choice to make, some servers enstrict one version on all players to make a more balanced community, of course you lose many low-spec players and the players who call minecraft a pvp game, ( like literally minecraft is one of the WORST games to pvp in), but we get better minecraft server quality, its just how it works
