»30 post requirement for staff applications

I feel that this is an arbitrary restriction which is in place at the moment, and would like to argue for a change in that restriction.

It has become clear to me that the general activity on this forum is exponentially less than when this rule was necessary, with perhaps 1/2 new threads with actual value made per day, the remainder of the activity being toxic, or non-value-adding posts.

Having approached staff regarding this restriction, the response was to look for places to gain 30 comments, and an easy way of doing this is to make player reports.

Incentivising player reports on a server with ~300 daily active players on the server is not only detrimental to player numbers, but creates a situation where players who perhaps could be spoken to when something happens and educated regarding the rules are reported and punished over situations where a report on the forums can be excessive.

To avoid ambiguity, I understand that player reports can often be necessary, however using these as a tool to get 30 posts is not the most suitable solution given the state of the server and player count.

Further, I understand the need to have a positive reputation and become well known within the community in order to be a staff member. This is a block game, and the majority of our time is (or should be) spent in-game.

That is where relationships are formed, reputation is gained and is also where staff members primarily perform their duties.

I am more than happy to contribute on forum posts that interest me, and I am happy to use the forum to action player requests and reports when I eventually become staff, however Guildcraft no longer receives "500 applications a day" as the application guidelines state, as this is no longer 2015 with thousands of active members.

We also now have Discord.

Why not remove the restriction which is clearly not fit for use anymore and allow staff to review applications as they come in ad hoc, so that motivated individuals like myself who fit the above criteria are able to apply for staff positions without this arbitrary post restriction?

You seem to be a very acknowledged person for someone who joined the forums last saturday

 

You only need to order threads by "replies" and look at the view counts on the articles on the home page to see the steady decline of activity, whereas this restriction has remained static despite changing circumstances.

So far, all responses here have been off-topic, including yours which is a shame and says a lot.
