Children, especially on the internet with the anonymity that offers, can be especially cruel without realizing the consequences. "It's just a prank bro" has become an anthem for the social media generation, but as those children grow and their brains continue to age, they'll develop empathy and rational thought and understand of the consequences that their words carry, even the "jokes".

 

Thank you. At least there is a sane person who understands me and understands that what you say on the internet can emotionally affect people. I am 17 so I guess I can call myself a child as well and yet I try to behave myself on the internet, even though there might not always be consequences. There is no point in acting good only when someone is watching you if after that, you're going to treat the others like garbage. Because the way you treat others defines you, after all. And by respecting other people you respect yourself. At least that is what my parents and my grandparents taught me. So, kids, even if you think that something you write on the internet won't actually offend anyone or you don't even think that what you wrote is bad, think twice. Try reading what you said out loud, in a room with your parents or any other people that you care about. Can't say it? You're embarrassed ? Then don't say it online to someone else either and remember, just because you said "it's just a joke" that doesn't mean someone can't take it serious and judge you for what you said, that is not an excuse.
