Hello community, Once again I've decided to create a serious thread on the "off-topic" section, even tho it's pretty much on-topic. In most of my posts I've criticized regular members, but this time I'll talk about what could be changed about staff members. Before I start talking about anything I'll give you guys a warning: If you're easily offended or if you do not like being criticized stop reading, in this post I'll mainly focus on one of the true issues that is causing guildcraft to lose players. Now, as I've said in yesterdays post, I'll create a serious topic talking about how being objective could decrease the amount of players that quit guildcraft. In this posts I'll write about my Subjective and Objective observation of certain behavior of staff members and members who wish to apply for staff. Before I begin, This issue is really common on big servers and it's really hard to prevent it. To staff members: this isn't an attack on you, this is just constructive criticism, there is no need for you to get offended. In this post I will not say any names, I will not target any person nor will I insult anyone. The first issue, the expectation vs the reality of becoming a "mod" Most of the players these days who apply, apply for fame, and that's truly a big problem. They believe that they'll get famous after getting accepted, that everyone is going to appreciate their work and thank them for everything. Another reason they're applying, is for power and revenge. People need to understand before they decide to apply, staff members are volunteers who are here to help out the server. Now where this problems becomes an serious issue, after they get accepted as mod, and notice that it isn't what they've expected, they become angry, and that anger causes them to do things that they shouldn't be doing. They think that they'll receive an award for being a staff member, that if they resign, they'll get some sort of trophy, but in reality, that isn't the case. Recently there was an issue with a mod who resigned (I will not name the person) and started a lot of drama because his admin app got denied, he caused a lot of damage just because he wasn't getting the attention he thought he would get. Now I think the person is a moderator again, but I'm not 100% sure about it. Regular members who want to become staff need to understand, being staff means helping the server, if your intentions aren't to help the server, don't apply, if you're here to get attention, trust me, you wont get any from becoming a mod. Now, let's talk about the second issue, the issue that occurs when the players that want attention go for admin, and when/if they get accepted. So this is the main problem and the reason I've decided to open up this post. Being Objective is the key Currently, there are staff members that aren't objective, and I can understand that a staff member likes a certain member better than some other member, but in some cases, it goes to far. From personal experience and from the experience of many other members, staff some times tend to target certain players, or refuse to help them out when they're in need of help, just because they aren't Well known or because they hate the member. Now, this causes a lot of players to quit, it's frustrating when you get in an argument with someone, and the staff member decides to punish you only, while both of you are breaking the chat rules. Or when you request help, and the staff member rather talks with his buddy than helps you out. It doesn't happen often to well known guildcraft members, but I do know that new members in most cases get ignored. The main rule for staff members should be that in all cases they must make objective decisions. Anyways, let's jump to the solution to this problem, since if I created this post without providing a solution it would've been an useless post. Solution: Quality over quantity. Now what I mean by that is, accept only the members who have shown that they really care about the server, and that they're really interested in helping out. Accept people who don't want to get accepted because of power and attention, but those who really care about the server. Now, since I've decided to criticize, I think I should mention a few staff member that I know are 100% objective (from personal experience, keep in mind, 80% of the staff members are really good, but in my opinion these ones are the ones who stood out with their objective decisions) @illlex - If there's anyone who would always respond and help out any member in any situation, it's this guy. To him, it doesn't matter if the member is new or well known, he'll gladly respond to them. @Thekillermatic - An amazing staff member, I couldn't say anything bad about him, he's truly an amazing staff and an amazing person who's always looking to help you out. @Quinten - Even tho I don't know him that well, when I informed him about a certain staff abusing, he gladly answered me and was incredibly kind to me even tho some times I can be annoying. + Many many more staff members... Anyways, thank you for reading this, I've written this post in a hurry so it might not be as good as my other posts, but I honestly hope some people actually read this objectively and try to understand the situation. Feedback is greatly appreciated, Vojkea out <3.
I totally agree with all of this, however i would also like to point out that in general if you have a staff team with a rather large quantity of immature / unprofessional staff members, you should also take a look at the source of said staff members. An objective head-admin will select only the best, while someone who himself does not value said merits very much will be more likely to promote friends into staff positions. I will not name anybody but i must say that the quality of the anni staff team as gone down after asyfrost resigned (despite whatever you think of him, he made sure that he had a good staff team) and said person took over, after which some people of questionable merit were promoted into staff positions.
thats what i said in my app 1 year back and got denied bunch of fame diggers here @XxMasterMCxX for instance
I report 69 person everyday. I going apply for practicepvp. I will get accept and become famous and head admin. Pls accept
100% Agreed... I've seen in it with my own eyes... Sadly... I agree with every single word. Altough back in the day when I was a member, I would not get ignored by any staff... Sounds odd but it happened!
Honestly well said... The favouritism with members and staff just isn't fair some times.. I know a Member that paid to get accepted and I won't name the head admin so I won't get into trouble..
Keep in mind guys, this post isn't meant to hate on anyone. I've criticized members in my previous posts, this time I've decided to talk about an issue that truly affects guildcrafts player base. My goal is to make guildcraft a better place, to help guildcraft gain more players in any way I can, either it be by making suggestions, or by stating some things that could be improved/changed. I think this post has gotten slightly too far since I didn't plan it to be an attack on staff, but many people think it is xd. We should all come together (staff members and members) and make guildcraft a better place. I'm not targeting anyone, as I've said in my post, I've just opened this up to explain how becoming a mod actually looks like. I don't have anything against Silent, but it surely looks like he has something against me. I will not confirm nor deny your claim. Thank you for the feedback, tho you've said it, the key word in your reply is: Thanks for the feedback. I agree that in some rare situation their behavior isn't fair, and that's why I created this post. But let's keep in mind that the current H-A are in my opinion much better than the previous ones (some are). But there are still things that need to be fixed if guildcraft is planing to return to it's old state, that's why I'm creating these posts to try and point out the things that could be changed. Ily too xd Vojkea out.
You don't even know me. You made an application a year ago. Just apply again, and use this as a guide https://www.guildcraft.org/threads/how-to-make-an-appropriate-application.1238/ Also how am I digging for fame? --- Double Post Merged, Aug 24, 2017, Original Post Date: Aug 24, 2017 --- This is well put together. I strongly agree with this and you make a great point of view. Keep it up.
