    Hi all,

As of now, there has already been numerous survival guides going around. For easier reference, below is a list of what each colour represents in the tutorial:
    Light Blue: Chapter Titles
    Red/Italics: Emphasis
    Orange: Commands/Example of Commands
    Purple: Steps

    Chapter 1: Finding Your Way
When you first enter the Survival server, you will find yourself at a place known as spawn. If you are quick enough, you will realize that none of the blocks around you can be broken. This is the same for blocks around warps as well. The only place where you can break blocks to obtain materials is in the wild. Unfortunately, there is no /warp wild command for use. To get into the wild, one has to walk out of the spawn or warp points. There are however, many warps that one can choose from. The following is a list of available warps (Numbers in Bold below are Coordinates for reference only. They do not need to be typed in the command):
    • Desert (-501, 72, -3723)
    • Enchant (-196, 72, 669)
    • Forest (1129, 65, -285)
    • FreeFood (-196, 72, 588)
    • Help (1100, 30, -266)
    • Jungle (14808, 66, 8240)
    • Mesa (10293, 75, -2584)
    • MythicalCrate (-169, 72, 653)
    • Nether (2609, 35, -2861)
    • Plains (20271, 72, 11438)
    • Playerinfo (-216, 72, 672)
    • PVP (-998, 68, -987)
    • RareCrate (-169, 72, 638)
    • Roofed (3, 67, -1315)
    • Rules (-216, 72, 620)
    • Savanna (-319, 64, -3114)
    • Snow (10480, 65, 21677)
    • Staff (-176, 72, 620)
    • TheEnd (6953, 74, 5767)
    • UncommonCrate (-223, 72, 638)
    • VoteCrate (-223, 72, 653)
Since you're looking to go into the wild, choose one of the warps above that are highlighted in RED. The command to get to your desired location is /warp <location>. As an example, we shall choose Desert. To get to Desert, simply type /warp desert. The other warps will be explained further into the tutorial.

Once you have chosen a warp to start from, the next step is getting out into the wild. Simple walk in one direction (any direction away from the spawn/warp). The spawn is characterized by many shops and well-decorated buildings residing within what is termed a "Plot". The warps on the other hand have a no-build zone surrounding it and one will have to venture further out before he/she can build. The moment you can break blocks, you have already entered the wild. From there, feel free to explore the wild for a place to call your home.

    Chapter 2: Home Sweet Home
When you have finally found yourself a comfortable place in the wild to call home, type /sethome. Once you've executed this command, the spot where you are standing on can be returned to easily with the command /home. That way, you do not have to keep walking miles from a spawn/warp point to get home.

With that done, you will want to start building your house. However, before rushing into building it, it is advisable to claim the land for your house first. Claiming is important because in your claimed land, only you can break blocks and interact with the buttons/doors/levers/chests/animals etc. Should you not claim the land for your house, other players can destroy and break your house or steal items from your chests. Below is an explanation on how to claim:

Step 1: Get a Golden Shovel (Golden Shovel is needed to claim land)
Golden Shovel can be bought at spawn. Type /spawn and you will find yourself back at where you were when you first joined the survival server. Walk straight from spawn and you will soon bump into a sign selling golden shovel at $150. Right click the sign to buy it. If you have sufficient money to get it, good. If you don't, type /vote and voting links will appear. Click on these links and vote for the server. Each vote gives you $500, more than enough for a golden shovel. Alternatively, ask in chat if any other players are willing to spare you a golden shovel. There are a lot of nice players around on survival. Once you have a golden shovel type /home to get back to the location for your house.

Step 2: Knowing the limit of your claim
Claimblocks are limited, especially for new players. Type /claimlist to check how many claimblocks you have. Your claim area cannot exceed this number of claimblocks. For new players, it is advisable to only start off with a small house so that everything you build can fit into your claim area. Once you have chosen your claim area, proceed to one of the corners of your claim.

*Note: The Example below already has a completed house

With the golden shovel in hand, right click on one of the corners of your claim. A diamond block will show up as shown below:

Keep the golden shovel in your hand and proceed to the opposite corner. Right click again at this other corner of your claim area. The following is what you will see:

As you can see, the area enclosed by the two corners is your claimed land. Only you have permissions within this claimed land of yours. For an in-game guided example, type /warp help.

In the event that you would like another player to have access to your claim as well (maybe to help you build your house), these commands below will allow them permission in your claim:

/permissiontrust <playername> - Allows the player to give permissions in your claim to others as well!
/trust <playername> - Allows the player to build/access your buttons/animals/chests in your claim!
/containertrust <playername> - Allows the player to access your buttons/animals/chests in your claim!
/accesstrust <playername> - Allows the player to access buttons/levers in your claim!

*Note: These trust commands should only be given to players you trust. If you trust someone and they decide to betray you, admins cannot help you to get your lost items/build back!

At any point of time, to check who has permissions in your claim, simply stand in your claim and type /trustlist. To remove permissions from a player, simply type /untrust <playername>. To abandon your claim, stand within in and type /abandonclaim.

Chapter 3: Rules, Exploration & Making Friends
By now, you should have a house to return to and is all prepared to explore the server. There's just one last thing to do before you begin your journey - Knowing The Rules. Type /warp rules and you will find yourself standing in front of numerous signs as shown below:

Make sure you familiarize yourself with all the rules of the server. Punishments are in place for those who break these rules. Should you need to clarify any of these rules, feel free to approach the staffs/older players on the server. They are more than willing to help.

Once you know the do's and don'ts, you are prepared to brave the wild. Open up your inventory and you will see several starter items already in there. Equip those iron armors and ready those iron tools. Go ahead and mine/obtain wood like how you would in normal single player survival. Here are some ways for you to fill your hunger bar whenever you need to:

    • /warp freefood - A command which teleports you to a warp where pigs/cows are available for the public to kill to obtain food.
    • /kit tools - This has a cooldown of 10 minutes, but nevertheless comes with some stone tools and 2 Steak for consumption.

After some time, you may get bored of being alone. Making some friends on the server will be a good idea. To start a private message with another player, simply type
/w <playername> <message>. For example, you wish to chat with me ;). Simply type /w FrozenFever Hi. On my end, I will receive your message. Subsequently, to reply to the person you were last chatting with, simply use /r <message>.

    To teleport
yourself to your new-found friend, type /tpa <playername>. Once again, taking me as your friend, an example of the full command would then be /tpa FrozenFever. To teleport your friend to you, replace /tpa with /tpahere. An example of the full command would then be /tpahere FrozenFever. To accept any teleport requests, type /tpyes. To reject any teleport requests, type /tpno. Lastly, you can turn on/off the ability for others to send teleport requests to you using the command /tptoggle.

*Note: Beware of suspicious players that keep pestering you to teleport to them. Do not be a victim of TP-killing.

When you come across another player's claim, you can check when the player last logged in using the command /seen <playername>. If the player has been offline for more than 28 days, you are allowed to request for an admin to unclaim the land, giving you access to the build and its chests. (This is commonly known as raiding)

    Chapter 4: Jobs/Shop/Trading

After all these, you may still have a bugging question in mind. Type /bal to check how much money you have. Wonder how money is made in the server? The following are several basic ways that one can use to make money:

    Getting A Job:
Type /jobs and a list of commands related to jobs should appear. Proceed to use /jobs browse to view a list of the available jobs. Once you have chosen a desired job, type /jobs join <chosen job>. Taking miner job as an example, the command to join miner will be /jobs join miner. Once you have entered the job, simply carry out your job (mining for miners, chopping wood for woodcutters etc) to earn money. As you level up your job, the money you earn from your job will increase as well. Type /jobs info <job> to find out the exact earnings. Taking miners for example, one would type /jobs info miner.

    Selling At Shop:
Type /shop and you will find yourself presented with a row of items as shown below:

The shop consist of mostly purchasable items, with the gold ingot being the only option for selling. Click on the gold ingot and you will be shown the screen below:

Right click on the mineral you wish to sell. A series of screen for you to select the amount will pop-up followed by a final confirmation. Note however, that the item you wish to sell has to be in your inventory. For a shortcut to sell the full quantity of what you have, use scroll button to click on the mineral instead.

    Trading:
Moving on, trading is another feature in the survival server. It is usually done within 2 players who have come to an agreement on a deal (mostly trading items for money). Unlike survival in 1.8, trading can now be done anywhere across the worlds. Simply type /trade <playername> to start the trade. Let's say you are trading with me, the command would be /trade FrozenFever. To accept trade requests from another player, simply type /trade accept. The following screen will show up once the trade begins:

There are two separate trade screens. Look for the one with your name above. That's where you will add your money/items to trade. The Gold Nugget, Gold Ingot, Gold Block and Diamond are what you click on to add money into your trade. Mouse over them and the details will appear. If you are trading items from your inventory, simply move them into the trade screen below your name. When money is offered by the other party, a gold ingot will appear. Mouse over to see how much money has been offered as shown below:

*Note: There is 3% tax involved when /trade is used!

Once the items/money have been confirmed, simply click on the red glass pane under your name. Once both parties have clicked on the red glass pane, the glass panes will turn green and a new column of green panes appears to countdown the trade as shown below:

Once the entire column is green, the trade is completed and the trade screen automatically closes.

    Chapter 5: Auction Houses/Sign Shops
Having learned how to earn money through the basic /jobs, /shop and /trade, we will now move on to learn /ah, a new addition to survival in 1.9. Items can be placed up for sale in auction houses, where players can browse and purchase.

To bring up the auction house menu, type /ah and you will be presented with the screen as shown below:

Below is a list of the function of each item found in the auction house menu (refer to image above).

Diamond: Shows you the items you are selling
Poisonous Potato: Shows you expired items/items you have cancelled
    Papers: For navigating between pages
    Sunflower: Refreshes the list
Emerald: Scroll over for brief guidance

    Book:

To place an item for sale in the auction house, one will have to hold the item in hand and type
/ah sell <price>. For example, to sell 1 potato for $10, I will hold 1 potato in hand and type /ah sell 10. Note however, that all items in the auction house will expire after 2 days should no one make the purchase. One may then click on the poisonous potato to retrieve those expired items by right clicking them. Similarly, cancelled items can also be retrieved the same way.

Making a sign shop is another way to sell items to other players. Below are the steps to making a sign shop:

Step 1: Make a Chest and fill them with the item you want to sell (Only 1 type of item per chest)
Sign shops work with both single chest and double chest. Fill the chest with the item that you wish to sell.

Step 2: Place a Sign on the chest and type in the details
There are 4 lines that players can type in one the sign. These are the details required in each line for the sign shop to work:
    1st line: <Your Playername> Example: FrozenFever
    2nd line:
<Quantity of the items you are selling each time> Example: 1
    3rd line:
<Price for the quantity of items stated above> Example: B 6000
    4th line:
<Itemid of the item you are selling> Example: 383:120

*Note: Itemid of the item can be obtained by holding the item in hand and typing /iteminfo.

Refer to the picture below for an example:

If the sign shop was done correctly, the sign would stay on the chest as shown below:

Players can now right click on the sign to purchase villager eggs from you at a price of $6000 for 1.

Creating a sell shop for players to sell items to you is done in a similar way. The only difference lies in the third line. Refer to the two pictures below for an example:

Chapter 6: Checking Online Players/Dealing with Problems
To check the list of online players, type /list. The ranks of each players are also shown in alphabetical order in /list.

There are several problems one can encounter on survival. Some of these problems include private message spamming, griefing, scamming etc. In the case where a player is spamming you, simply use the command /ignore <playername>. You will no longer receive his/her messages/spams. In a case of griefing/scamming, contact admins using the command /helpop <message>. Make sure not to abuse this command for minor issues as admins can be busy checking logs etc. Players are however, allowed to use /helpop to ask admins to help with unclaims.

In serious cases which require admins to help but none are online, feel free to look for admins on the forums or in teamspeak 3 (TS3).

*Note: GuildCraft Address on TS3: ts.guildcraft.org

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
    1) What are vote coins used for?
Vote coins are obtained from voting. They can be used in /voteshop. To check how many vote coins you have, type /voteshop balance.
    2) How to obtain vote crate keys and what are they used for?
While in-game, do /vp and you will see a figure appear in chat. When that figure drops to 0, a vote party starts and all players who voted in the day and are online at the moment will receive a vote crate key. This key can be used at /warp crates. To use it, right click the vote crate with the vote crate key in your hand. Left click the vote crate to see what are the prizes that can be won.
    3) How do I message offline players?
You can mail offline players using the command /mail send <playername> <message>. They will receive it when they come online. To read messages, type /mail read. To clear message box, type /mail clear.
    4) Is PVP enabled in the server?
PVP is enabled only at /warp pvp. New players are advised not to enter PVP due to the lack of good items for fighting.
    5) Is griefing/scamming allowed?
    No, check the rules.
    6) Is there party or group chat?
Yes, type /party in chat and some instructions/help will appear. Read and follow the instructions. They come rather instinctively. To turn on/off party chat, the command is /p chat. To send just an instant message in party, use /p <message>
    7) How do I send/pay money to other players?
Outside of trade-screen, money can also be sent to other players through the command /pay <playername> <amount>. For example, to pay me $5000, one would type /pay frozenfever 5000.

Nice tutorial! Maybe we should start linking to it? ;)

    A few things though...

Your comments on auctioning aren't entirely correct. You can only cancel an auction if the remaining time is more than 30 seconds. So if you /auc 1 1 50 15 rip you can't cancel

Also /trade can be done at /warp hangout and /warp pvp too neb -.-
