»A question regarding mutes

Greetings, fellow GC mates. I had a question with me for a long time.
So 2 weeks earlier, I got harassed by some people. They were SERIOUS trashtalking me... (more details on the situation-last lines of thread) so I said this:
''STOP harassing me I survived with half a heart you *****.''
Alright, thats the EXACT quote-on-quote message that appeared on the chat from my side. And I'm being totally honest here. The curse word was censored, I didnt even try to get around the swear block. I decided that swear words should stay as stars, and no vulgar language should be involved. The stars were a depiction of how angry I was at the wrongdoers. From my side, I think that those stars did NOT count as swearing, or toxicity. I think a person should be punished for swearing if he posts a swear word which is not censored, or a swear word in another language.
Those stars.. were actually able to grab the attention of a staff member, and BAM. I received a mute. I know the IGN of the staff here, and I'm not going to tag the person until I prove right. If I am wrong, I may actually insult the mod, and I dont want that. Again, I am saying that I think that stars dont qualify as swearing. Therefore, I was wrongly muted. I am also saying that this was my FIRST time showing actual hate towards a player, and he deserved it too.

The Situation (This story is here to defend myself from the question-Why was I mad in the first place?)
I was strolling in pvp, and this guy says he wants to 1v1 with me, so I said yes. The SECOND I entered the arena, three more guys jumped in, and they all started THRASHING me. (Imagine 4v1 scenario) Couldn't move, lag. Knockback was over 9000. In no time I became cornered, and my hitpoints started winding down. I made a desperate attempt to escape, I enderpearled out and actually survived with actual half a heart. I was ready to report these guys. I was ready to show them. But guess what? They starting serious trashtalk in all caps. Called me a noob, a coward, a nasty ******* (actually, this was not censored, I censored it now in the forum post.) This REALLY pissed me off. I was legit mad, I didnt deserve this. Looking back on it, shouldnt have reacted, but in the heat of the moment, I wrote my reply. When I got muted... I can't express how I felt. I felt miserable. You have got to take my word for it.
And then I ragequitted. Hard. Then I remember now I forgot to take any screenshots. This ruined my night.

 

Can't believe I actually trusted that 1v1 request. Guess thats how I am.

 

Well regarding your concern with the mute. Staff members are allow to mute within context of whatever you are saying. I understand that you might be mad after a pvp fight but there is no reason to say those words with stars in them to censor it. A staff member will read what you said and take it into their consideration and if they deem that what you said was offensive or had the "intent" to be offensive in any way then they are allowed to mute even if you didn't mean to say the word and used stars.

On the contrary, regarding what you said about them trash talking you. You should first tell them to stop, if they do not and continue to harass you in anyway or form, you should go ahead and screenshot it and report it to a staff member where then they can mute them if deem fit.

Even though you are mad at them, you typing profanity and them typing it back at you gets you no where but a mute on your end. As they say, two lefts don't make a right.

Something to keep in mind is that mods do not have the ability to see swear words beyond the ******'s. Only admins can see what is really typed. The only thing we (mods) can do is assume there is an actual curse word there and take the best action depending on how it was used. We can not take everyone's word of them saying, "I only typed asterisks, I didn't really say a bad word." Then everyone would be using that excuse to avoid mutes when dealing with mods. Sorry that this happened to you, but at least you can chalk it up as a lesson learned. /eignore would be your best bet next time other players harass you.

 

Okay, thank you for responding. It was actually true, a mod muted me for the "stars" or asterisks. I am linking another thread here, please take the time to go through it and read @Reznex 's reply.

If you are going to use my words to your advantage say everything. It doesnt help in your credibility about your situation if you quote only the thing that helps you.....

'If the filter makes '**** you: ' '**** you' the rules state: not muteable.
But if you keep using '**** you' or whatever the chat filters you will also be muted for 12hours.'

First off all, who muted you? He may have screenshots/logs about the situation that are in your favor or not.
You must understand that if a staff member takes action its best to make a unmute request with the person who muted you tagged so he can give solid proof why the mute is correct or incorrect.
We can't believe one side of the story we have to see both.

Tag the person who muted you, so he can give he's side of the story. If you do not, you make your statement more unbelievable.
Because it clearly states that you are hiding something if you don't tag the person who muted you.

 

First off, thanks for taking the time to write that message. I have nothing to hide. I just used the phrase that made me wonder ''Maybe I didn't lose my clean history! Maybe I can still progress!'' If you have read my previous messages, I have tried to explain everything as accurately as possible. An ummute request would not work, because I was muted 2 weeks ago. And the mute has already worn off. So the help section was the best for this query. This whole thread I made, is not for the unmute, Its for the sake of my clean history. I want to stay like that. I am being totally honest. You would wonder that why didnt I tag the mod in the first place. That was because I wanted to avoid a fight, and I wanted to avoid insulting the mod, which could easily happen if I accused him without a good cause. (It IS a good cause now, because I have been asked mutliple times to tag the mod. So here goes nothing- @keeskaassouffle )

If you want a clean history for mod reasons there is no need to be worried.
Small mutes don't matter.

If you want a clear history for the sake of having a clear history, I'm sorry but you will have to wait untill kees reply's.

Also what server where you muted?

 

I was muted on survival, The only server I play on. And I felt miserable.
I wanted a clean history, wanted to have a clean history for applying as well, but I just wanted a clean history. Not being held blame at feels good. I can wait for the mod to answer. Time isn't an issue. Thank you for your help. Guess I can finally get the clean history I wanted.
